Engineered Wood Flooring for a More Durable Surface

Pomona Hardwood Flooring offers a range of engineered hardwood flooring options if you’re looking for a more durable surface but still want the beauty of a wood floor. Engineered hardwood flooring is made up of a core of hardwood, plywood or HDF and a top layer of hardwood veneer that is glued on the top surface. It is available in almost any species of hardwood so it naturally offers characteristics of the selected species. Engineered wood flooring provides greater stability, particularly where moisture or heat pose problems for solid hardwood floors.

Benefits of Engineered Wood Flooring

The HDF core gives engineered wood flooring the highest moisture resistance possible in a genuine wood floor, so it won’t expand or contract with changes in humidity, resulting in a longer life and more uniform floor.

Because the HDF core is so dense, it creates a floor that’s up to twice as hard as a solid wood floor of the same species. That means engineered wood flooring dent or ding easily.

When installing solid wood flooring, the boards must be nailed to a wood sub-floor to expansion and contraction issues. An engineered hardwood floor, however, can be installed directly onto concrete and simply clicked or glued into place.
